The
home-owner's wife was extremely pregnant at
the time of installation and my challenge was
to install two separate systems, two separate
custom cabinets, and upgrade their satellite
system to High Definition and be out
of the house before their new daughter was scheduled
to enter the world!
Downstairs,
the customer had three televisions that were
to be installed inside a brand new entertainment
center (which also needed to be installed) so
that his sons could use each tv for a separate
function. The center unit would provide
cable and satellite viewing while video games
were connected to the flanking televisions.
Upstairs,
an old entertainment center had been crammed
into the space between fireplace and window
in the family room. The customer wanted
this unit removed and a new custom cabinet installed,
along with the above-mentioned satellite upgrade
and a new 50" Toshiba HD-Ready Rear Projection
Television.
Naturally,
Murphy's Law reared its ugly head and we ran
into obstacles and problems which had to be
solved in order for the systems to be installed
and operate properly. The job turned into
a week-long nightmare for me, but instead of
turning to whiskey or running off to Utah to
join a polygamous cult, I pushed forward and
just kept on working.
My
last visit to the house (with the cabinet-maker
who had also run into unforeseen "challenges")
occurred on a Tuesday morning. When he
and I finally left the house that afternoon,
the systems were in, the cabinets fit, and everything
was working! As I hope that you can see from
the pics above, I think that we can be proud
of the esthetics here as well!
Oh
yes, the customer's wife entered the hospital
on Wednesday morning, the following day, and
gave birth that afternoon!
